Cabin in the Woods
ABOUT
Cabin in the Woods
This project brought new life to a stone and timber cabin surrounded by Wisconsin forest land. The house had great reclaimed elements, but awkward spaces and small windows left if feeling dark and cramped. We removed a wall to open a great room to the fireplace, and applied sheer layers of lime wash to lighten the dark ceiling boards and neutralize orange tones in the exposed brick. For furnishings, we brought in an eclectic mix of clean linen and Swedish antiques, with rustic vintage and distressed leather, and pops of cozy tartan. Nods to nature are everywhere. Favorite finds include an antique German Black Forest chandelier with boar bristle detail, a quirky old longhorn velvet wedding mirror, an iron and wood Eames side chair with hide seat, a pair of battered leather cigar chairs, a luxe cable-knit rug in the master bedroom, and the deep shadow-box coffee table that showcases a constantly-evolving collection of curiosities.
