The picture-perfect sprawling family in this extra-wide city home had a clear wishlist: Create functional spaces for family dinners, piano lessons, homework, and entertaining, incorporate beloved heirlooms, and make the whole house feel like a garden, even through grey Chicago winters. We breathed the owner’s warm climate childhood into every room of her house through jubilant floral and tropical wallpapers, light fixtures that echo botanical forms in draping crystal, green accents, preserved moss and live plants, and elaborate forever custom floral arrangements created by a talented local artist. We also converted standard French doors in the family room to a clean-lined moveable glass wall of stacking doors, to welcome in the sunshine and breeze during the precious months of warm weather.
